The Inverted Plank
The traditional plank as we know it, is mostly an exercise that activates the anterior chain or front of the body. The Inverted Plank position stimulates the body to bear a load nin a parallel position. I am fan of this movement for multiple reasons. Here are the main benefits:
- Increased stabilization stregnth of the shoulder supinatiors or muscles that initiate shoulder rotation.
- Allows for mobilization in the superficial and deep front line fascia highways. What’s that you may be wondering? Check it out here.
- Stimulates synergy between the wrist, elbow and shoulder joints. This is important because it creates stability through the joints.
- Adds stimuli for increased thoracic extension. This is imprtant because lack of space in the spine can result in shoulders that have limited range of motion.
